Brief history of the club

The major stages in the development of the club have been:

a)    1922 to 1929; the club was established in 1922 as Warley Tennis Club at a site near Warley Road and remained there until 1929.

b)    1929 to 1939; the club moved to courts in Headley Chase and remained as Warley Tennis club until 1939.  Having rented the site until April 1939, it then purchased the land and became Brentwood Hard Court club.

c)   1939 to 1976; the club continued to flourish in Headley Chase.

d)   1976 to present; the club moved to its present location at Childerditch and became increasingly involved in promoting tennis and has subsequently made great progress across all areas.
At this stage the club had 7 floodlight courts and an old clubhouse which had been brought from the Headley Chase site.

e)   In 2000 the club recognised that it had outgrown these original facilities and made a successful application to The LTA/Sport England for a loan/grant to add the following extra facilities; which were opened in 2003:

i)      Three additional courts – two artificial grass and one hard court.

ii)     A substantial sized new clubhouse
